Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department
The mission of the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department is to save lives endangered by fire, medical emergency, or any other disaster; and the protection of property. The Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit 501c3 organization based in the heart of the unincorporated community of Grape Creek, Texas, about 10 miles north of San Angelo, Texas. We are a 100 percent volunteer organization with a diverse group of 26 dedicated men and women who are called to serve their community in times of emergencies. Our volunteer fire department was officially established in 1972, and our fire station was funded and built by our very own volunteers. We respond to approximately 300 calls of service every year. In conjunction to responding to fires and other disasters, our volunteer fire department also responds to medical emergency calls in our community. We are a licensed 'First Responder EMS Organization' through the Texas Department of State Health Services, and all of the volunteers that respond to medical emergencies in our community have Basic Life Support training and/or are certified through the State of Texas as EMTs and Paramedics. We take great pride in making sure all of our volunteers are actually trained in Fire and EMS, so that we can provide the best professional service to our community. Our primary response fire district serves a population of 13,000 people, to the northwest of the city of San Angelo’s city limits. We provide all the fire protection outside the city limits of San Angelo in this area. Our primary response area is approximately 210 square miles, which includes: the community of Highland Range, Community of Buffalo Heights, Grape Creek ISD schools, Angelo State University Agriculture Research Facility, Texas A&M Agriculture Research Facility, the San Angelo State Park, and several industrial businesses.
