Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Overview: Make-A-Wish has one program – we grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Far more than a moment in time, a wish is a powerful experience that generates essential hope. Wishes spark the imagination and inspire children to consider limitless possibilities. Wish children’s spirits soar while their wish can help manage the trials of critical illness. A growing number of medical professionals are including Make-A-Wish in their treatment plans, believing that wishes cause the odds to shift and can give children with critical illnesses a higher chance of survival. Because of this, referrals are at an all-time high. We currently have over 60 children in West Texas waiting for a wish; and we believe they simply cannot afford to wait. We diversify funding between private individuals, foundations, corporations, both internal and third party events, school engagement and community involvement. The wish experience is often a catalyst for families to come together and create memories that last a lifetime. A wish has the power to bring unity to an entire community as they work together to make each child’s wish come true. We invite you to Share the Power of a Wish® by becoming our partner in helping to grant the wish of every eligible child! Did you know that wishes are funded by local donations and granted by local volunteers? In fact, our volunteers of the year are San Angelo residents, Nancy & Ron Knight. As the parents of a Wish Kid, they learned first-hand how important wishes are to children with critical illnesses and their families. They started volunteering in 2009 and have enjoyed helping over 30 children see their wish come true. Special thanks to incredible volunteers and community partners like Nancy & Ron in San Angelo!
