Bluebonnet CASA is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates- trained volunteers from the community who are appointed Guardian ad Litem to advocate on a personal basis for a child who has been a victim of abuse or neglect. CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child's best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need. CASA volunteers save taxpayers money and children's futures by helping children find safe, permanent homes as soon as possible. Bluebonnet CASA was founded in September 2002 and had 9 children in care at that time. Since our inception every child in Mason, Menard, McCulloch, Kimble and Edwards County who has come into custody of the state of Texas because of abuse or neglect has been assigned a CASA Guardian ad Litem Volunteer. Bluebonnet CASA serves every child that comes into care in our five counties.
